Hi can you tell me if Gary Rollins is in Australia and is giving lessons…….or anywhere else near Coffs Harbour I can have a drive while on hols? Cheers.

Hi Thelma; unfortunately I’m not as well up on things as Heidi from the NCCC. I’d say her comments on the fb Harness Enthusiasts Group are up to date and correct. You might be able to find someone to share a drive in the North Coast Carriage Club – I just turn up occasionally to take photos. This is the North Coast Carriage Club’s fb page – https://www.facebook.com/NorthCoastCarriageClub?fref=ts
      All the best,
      Jim.

Hi Jim, is your booklet “the long road” still available for purchase?? It would be something I would be interested in reading..:)

    • aquadraco says:

Hi Debra; I only have my original copy of the booklet, but it might be a good idea for me to scan it and post it on my site. It’ll be several days before I’ll be home (I’m in Ballarat at the moment), but I will dig it out and put it on line.

That would be great!! Jim – Thank you..

  4. Steve Orr says:

Hi, could you please let me know when the first wollombi- st albans annual endurance harness drive was held ?

    • aquadraco says:

Hi Steve; I’m not sure when the first Wollombi – St Albans was run. The lady who organised it came back from competing in the USA in 1976, and the first Melbourne to Sydney was run in 1979. The year 1978 keeps floating around in my head, and it would have been 1977 or ’78 for sure. But that’s as close as I can get at the moment. I’ll see what I can find out and get back to you.

I have 4 medallions brass Sydney to Brisbane Bicentennial Harness Marathon 1200 Kilometeres 1788 1988 funded by the NSW Bicentennial Council. can u tell me any thing about these???

    • aquadraco says:

Yes, Charles, I can. The medallions were cast from copper, and were presented to the teams who participated in the Sydney to Brisbane Harness Marathon. Each medallion was intended to be inscribed with the name of the competitor or Drive Committee member who took part in the Marathon. The Marathon was organised and run by the Australian Endurance Harness Drivers Association, which at the time was the governing body for endurance harness driving in Australia. If you could tell me the names on the medallions and / or send me some clear photos I might be able to tell you a bit more.
